A closer look at that photograph reveals that Oscar was a bit old then also. Note how he stepped on go fast lever instead of slow down lever? There is a hole in the dealerships showroom wall.

Mine was a 1990 Nissan Maxima, my dad bought it new, built his insurance agency with it, putting 175,000 miles on it from 91 to 98.  I put another 12,000 HARD miles on it.  Only needed a waterpump.  98-00

Sold it for $1,500 to buy a 1996 VW passat, worst car move ever!  need a coil the day I bought it, lost the tranny, head gasket, heater core, serpantine belt tensioner and the door latches would freeze open in the winter.  Worst car move ever!  00-04

went without a car for a year, graduated college, no car, taking the bus to a retail job, worst year of my life

Bought my cousins 98 tacoma 2wd totalled it 2 years later, got a good amount back from insurance 05-06

Got my samurai, off road only 08-present

Bought a 00 tacoma 2wd "Pre Runner" had the frame recalled got my purchase price for it 3 years later 06-10

Got a promotion at work, got a brand new jeep JKU because I liked the top down driving I had been doing in the Samurai 10-present

Not nearly as cool a list as most of you guys.  But I loved everyone of these, If they re-released the 1990 maxima, I'b buy it TODAY.  The Passat when it ran was a great car but the repairs and woting killed me in college.  I took the Tacoma on a road trip the first weekend I bought it, camped in it, moved in it 2 times.

No worries. To date myself, my dads first new car was the '67 Pontiac Ventura. Sounds like most of us just have a little age on you, nothing more.

Bringing this one back to the top.

My first vehicle was a 1977 Toyota FJ40.    Sold my dirt bike to buy it when I was 15 and then worked on it for over a year with my old man to get it in good daily driving condition.

Then we proceeded to wheel the hell out of it for years.  All over western and central washington.

At the end of my ownership it had ended up with a very quality built big block chevy and a turbo 350 trans.   Ended up selling it not because I wasn't happy with it, but more or less because I wasn't in a position to finish or truly build it the way I wanted it.    Even today I could have sank 15 grand into that thing easily.     Suzuki Samurai is so much cheaper to build.

Owned the FJ for 16 years probably still my longest term ownership to date.   Sold it to a friend of mine up in Bellingham Wa for 6600 bucks.  Then he sold it 2 years later to a doctor in Minnesota for 10 grand lol.

Beyond that the wife and I have probably owned upwards of 25 cars in the last 25 years.
