MY-Turn ASTRO BOX MY-Turn 1.3-1.6 all Engine bracket for PS pump
« on: September 27, 2018, 10:54:51 PM »

The new ZuksOffRoad “MY-Turn PS Kit” has a long history of performance on the trails and safe hi-speed driving.
The install starts by cutting off the radiator support mount on the driver side frame
Next you sand smooth the high spots so the plate lays flat.
Next paint the frame.

The 1.3 to 1.6 8v and 16v MY-turn powersteering pump bracket is designed for using
A) Jeep Cherokee ‘95 TC style power steering pump with reservoir attached
B) TC style High Pressure pumps using remote reservoir.
C) Sidekick/Tracker KB style pump using remote reservoir.

Pumps Styles A & B can be converted to V belt if using a 1.3 double row pulley for AC. More commonly these pumps use a serpentine pulley with 5-6 rip setup.

Does the model of Astro van steering box matter? As in 2wd vs AWD?

The 2 wheel drive is overkill enough. The AWD is 30% LARGER box and not recommended.

Are any of the Astro van hydro boost components used? Or would i need just hydro lines going to Cherokee pump?

The Saginaw box is easily tapped for hydro assist. Search Saginaw tap for hydro steering. The MY-Turn pump brackets are made for TC style like the new 1650 psi power flow from TG

Can someone say what years of 2wd astro boxes will work please?
I need to find one from the wreckers.

Also, what are you guys using for steering.....tie rod, drag link? Will the oem zuk tie rod and drag link work? I will be yj spua.
Will the zuk drag link fit the Astro pitman arm tapered hole?

Does the Astro box point directly at the zuk steering shaft? or, is a "rag joint eliminator" required at the box-end of the steer shaft?

 Thank you.

I need to find one from the wreckers. 95-92 not AWD

Also, what are you guys using for steering.....tie rod, drag link? Will the oem zuk tie rod and drag link work? Yes BUT you will need to drill out the pitman arm 1” hole and ask for our weld in adapter to make the Astro pitman arm home smaller

 I will be yj spua.
Will the zuk drag link fit the Astro pitman arm tapered hole? Problem with factory is not adjustable so you most likely will have tonsleeve it to center the arm

Does the Astro box point directly at the zuk steering shaft? or, is a "rag joint eliminator" required at the box-end of the steer shaft? You will take the Astro steering linkage and “mate “ it to the Samurai according to the instructions shown in product instruction section of ZORum.

 Thank you.

My pleasure

Only 95 and 92 2WD Astro van steering box works?
I currently have a high steer kit and Geo Tracker PS on a 1.6 8V
I would buy the My Turm bracket and remove my wedge from the frame and replace the box.
I expect I could ream out the Astro Van pitman arm to fit the OTT steering ball Joint. Toyota FJ I think.
Should I upgrade the pump as well?
Thanks
Jim

No 1987 to 1995 work I cherry pick for the older visible steering linkage not the ones covered in plastic tube. But they all work.

You can sell that SK set up no problem

I'm having brain fart...what is non-adjustable?

To run SPUA (lets say with Old Man Emu Zuk springs 1.5" lift) I would need to drill out/remove Astro taper, then insert and weld in new sleeve for Zuk drag link?

Only 1992-95 2wd Astro ps boxes?

Will Astro box work with 2.0l engine conversions...is there pump mounting solution for this?

No the factory steering ball joint is to small easy fix though. Remove the pitman arm drill out a 1” hole weld in our tapered bushing for smaller ball joints works like a charm
