Vss in 2000 1.3 16 V info/discussion
« on: April 14, 2019, 01:34:28 PM »

Schematics on autozone.com for the 2000 show a High and a Low Vss.
Both signals are fed into C2 pin 4 and pin 12
Pin 4 is called out as a grey wire on this harness it is brown so I will look at different year 1.3 16v metro motor for a brown wire on pin 4. Pin 4 is labeled as VSS HIGH.

Pin 12 is called out as a grey/yellow and goes to flat two pin connector. The other side of the connector is the brown wire from pin 4. I would guess that the grey/yellow wire would work with a metal VSS grounded, in a Samurai cluster.

Here is what I found on another forum, can't remember which one. It is for a 94 Swift and showing the VSS as A10 Yellow/green. Must be different between years/models.

The diagram I have shows a violet wire for automatic transmissions models, and yellow/green wire for MT.   both connect to pin four.  The MT speed sensor is in the cluster, and the AT sensor is in in the transaxle.

I found the digram on the internet, and if you can't trust the internet then who can you trust.

It's in a friends Samurai, just trying to get the VSS hooked up for him.

First I would like to say his name three times and hope he appears.

Sean Devinney
Sean Devinney
Sean Devinney

Silent pause

Where is Sean when we need access to his brain?

Second
Itís obvious the years change as well as the liter. Remember the GEO had a 1.0. I got fooled into reading those schematics til I couldnít get a color match on the one I have.
Suzuki seems to do ECU plug color changes for easy identification. The harness I have has green connectors.

I will do a ecu model number search and see if google can identify the year.
If that works then maybe I can be more helpful with your schematic Mike
