Ready for the weekend. I think I may try to work on the Sami. I forgot where I was kinda. I know I need to wire onto the harness so it connects to the ECU when plugged in. Ugh. I hate electrical.

Same here. My buddy has a cherry picker he's going to loan me so will try to go pick that up from him so I can get to work on pulling the old motor/trans and getting the new one in.

Just going back with stock 1.3 8v and transmission. I already have 4.56 r&p installed in my diff's and will be rebuilding the xfer case with 4.16. I considered doing a VM diesel swap but I really like the simplicity and reliability of the 1.3 and didn't want to get in over my head. That and I'm pretty much restoring mine minus the paint so budget is going to lots of other parts and pieces that need to be refreshed.

Thats great. I really like the 4.16 gears in the xfer. I went with the 16v sidekick and i am kinda wishing I stuck with the 1.3. But maybe when I work out all the bugs and such I'll be happy with the swap. With the donor vehicle I was able to do 5.12 r&p so that was good!
The dream would be doing a frame up restoration on mine. A lot of "repairs" I did when I was younger are proving to be a pain in the butt.

If you make it too nice you won’t want to ruin it by driving it.

True. It is a conundrum I would love to have.

I really like the simplicity of the 1.3, too.

And the stuff MY is putting together really makes the 1.3 so much better.

That being said... anyone wanna work on my Sami I'd pay you.  2up

I wish I wasn't so fed up with mine. I can work on other peoples but just the thought of working on mine makes me frustrated.

You need wrenching friend, when you get fed up let them have a go.

That is exactly what I need and something I never had. I tend to be the most experienced wrencher in my groups of friends.

Same here. I do have one buddy I trust who helped me swap out a motor in an old nissan truck I had 20 years ago. But, I don't like to bother him as he's a dad too and always busy with work.

I'd love to do my own engine swap - never been around one being done but looks rewarding/and like a pain in the ass lol
